An open letter to State Governors & Legislatures (Calif. only)

Protect consumer 3D printer rights

13 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!

I respectfully urge you to vote NO on AB 2047. My main concerns are that the bill would lock consumers out of modifying products they own, enable further "enshittification" by allowing companies to degrade functionality over time, and concentrate more control in corporate hands at the expense of individual rights. Claims about 3D-printed guns are a red herring. Regular firearms are already widely available and not well regulated enough. This bill would not meaningfully improve public safety but would instead give corporations greater power over how people use products they purchased. Please oppose AB 2047 and pursue alternatives that protect consumer rights, repair and modification freedoms, and meaningful public safety measures without empowering corporate gatekeeping. Thank you for representing our community.
