DEMAND ANSWERS ON IRAN. AND STOP FUNDING LOBSTER DINNERS WITH OUR MONEY
6 so far! Help us get to 10 signers!
This week Trump administration officials gave a classified briefing to the Senate Armed Services Committee about the war in Iran.
What reporting we’ve read so far is unsatisfactory. It sounds like there is little plan for anything other than bombing until Trump declares a win.
Among the unanswered questions…
How much is the war costing us?
Will Trump order boots on the ground in Iran?
Is Russia sharing tactical information on our military actions with Iran? Is China? (The disingenuous acceptance of Russian assurances that they are not involved in any way by Mr. Witkoff is criminal.)
What is the plan? What is the endgame?
Why has the GOP Congress completely abdicated their sole power to declare war? And are instead choosing to just accept Trump’s power grab of a decision that, under our Constitution, is their responsibility?
If you can’t or won’t do the job you were hired to do then you should no longer keep your job. An employee does not have the right to rewrite their job description.
If you were doing your jobs, the debate over war would go to Congress. Then we could hear the reasoning for the war hashed out. And decide for ourselves if the cost in lives and treasure is worth it.
Fittingly, if they voted for a war, members of Congress would have to answer to their constituents for the money spent and lives lost.
Only one political party is calling out that Trump is spending $1B a day in his attacks on Iran, but that he slashed through government programs that help Americans. All while he loudly proclaimed the need to address our ballooning national debt.
And yet, according to a report from government watchdog Open the Books, the Pentagon under Pete Hegseth blew through $93.4B in September 2025. With more than $50B going out in the last five days of the month alone.
To spend the entirety of the defense budget by the end of the FY, rather than lose it, Pentagon officials bought a $98,329 Steinway & Sons grand piano for the Air Force chief of staff’s home.
$5.3M for Apple devices such as the new iPad.
An astronomical amount of shellfish, including $2M for Alaskan king crab and $6.9M worth of lobster tail. (Lobster tail is apparently a favorite of Hegseth’s Pentagon—the department spent more than $7.4M total on such in March, May, June, and October.)
$15.1M for ribeye steak, just in September.
$124,000 for ice cream machines.
And $139,224 on 272 orders of doughnuts.
But then in October, the Trump administration said it could not fund SNAP because the government had shut down. Millions of Americans lost food benefits. While the Pentagon was drowning in lobster tails and doughnuts.
We’ve found the source of waste and fraud. And it’s eating lobster and ribeye and bombing Iran.
While we the people pay for it all. While Americans can hardly afford a trip to the grocery store. Or the gas to get there.
Incompetence. Greed. Corruption. Dereliction.
The whole bunch of you need firing.
