**Free New Zealander Everlee Wihongi from ICE Detention**
I'm asking you to intervene immediately to secure the release of Everlee Wihongi, a New Zealand citizen who has been detained at the Adelanto ICE Processing Center since April 10, 2026 without being officially informed why she's being held or when she might be released.
Everlee has lived in the United States since age six and held a green card for 30 years. She was detained at LAX after returning from New Zealand, despite having traveled back and forth previously without issue. The stated reasons involve a previous stolen green card issue and a marijuana possession case already handled by the courts. She works as a welder and has family in Wisconsin waiting for her return.
This detention is unjust. Everlee has been held in a cell with 46 others people with no clear timeline, while one cellmate has been there for a year. It appears she is the only one in the facility with a green card. The New Zealand government has shown no interest in helping, which means the US government bears full responsibility for keeping her in this limbo. She deserves to know why she's being held and when she can return to her life and family.
Investigate her case and push for her immediate release. She's lived here for decades and deserves better than indefinite detention in the Mojave Desert.
