An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Enact Safe Staffing Levels to Protect Patients and Nurses

16 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!

I am your constituent and I want you to know that we need legally mandated safe staffing levels for nurses in medical facilities. According to the Institute of Medicine, up to 98,000 hospital patients die each year from preventable problems, many of which could be avoided with safe staffing levels. Further, nurse-staffing shortages are a factor in one out of every four unexpected hospital deaths or injuries caused by errors. I want you to get the Nurse Staffing bill passed. We need to protect patients and nurses nationwide. Here is a link to a summary for you. Thank you. https://schakowsky.house.gov/sites/evo-subsites/schakowsky-evo.house.gov/files/migrated/uploads/The%20Nurse%20Staffing%20Standards%20for%20Hospital%20Patient%20Safety%20and%20Quality%20Care%20Act%20Summary%20FINAL.pdf
