An open letter to the U.S. Congress

DHS Accountability—No More Misinformation

30 so far! Help us get to 50 signers!

The way DHS handled Senator Padilla was unacceptable, and the fact that they issued a false description of what happened makes it even worse. Secretary Noel’s misinformation just adds fuel to the fire, and there need to be consequence for both the violent action and the falsifying of the report of what happened. I’m asking you to apply them. Falsifying this information puts all of us at risk. I’m asking you to: 1. Push for a full public fact-check of DHS’s statements about the event —no more covering up mistakes. 2. Demand an independent review of how DHS engages with elected officials and the public. 3. Call for Noem to face disciplinary action for knowingly lying—whether that’s public censure, an ethics investigation, or another accountability measure. Leadership means standing up for the truth. I hope to see you take action on this.
