Greetings. I am a voting constituent in rural west Texas.
Perception of the day. The GOP Congress is going against the will of the American people on items to help them, and our democracy. And not by a small margin but by an overwhelming majority.
We want rich corporations to help a society that they reap profits from. How? By paying taxes the way the rest of us have to.
We want rich folks to pay their fair share. Or even their share at all. Revolutions have been fought over such inequity.
We want fair and equitable voting rights. We want an easier process to be able to decide who leads our country. Not a more difficult one. We don’t want discrimination at the ballot box.
We want progress on infrastructure. And we don’t want the pedantic vision of infrastructure as consisting solely of roads and bridges. Infrastructure is the basis of progress and prosperity for the country. We need a vision for the 21st century and beyond.
We want sensible gun laws. Period.
So as we watch your various votes, we will remember whose side you choose. The people. The country. Or your own best interests.
Which, theoretically, should be the same.
