An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Publicly oppose the cancellation of the "food insecurity' survey

1 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

I recently read in the news that the Trump administration is canceling the 'food insecurity survey.' NPR published an article, "USDA cancels survey tracking how many Americans struggle to get enough food", September 22, 2025. I guess the rationale for this action is, if you don't know it exists then it doesn't exist. Out of sight, out of mind. It is my understanding that canceling the survey sets a dangerous precedent and more Americans will become food insecure, and potentially starve. Please look into this matter, publicly oppose the canceling of the survey, and if possible work on legislation to reverse this irresponsible and potentially life-threatening decision. I believe this survey and the SNAP program are inextricably linked. Thus, it appears that the Trump Administration is attempting to eliminate both. Please publicly oppose the cancellation of the survey, and take legislative action to reinstate the 'food insecurity survey.' Thank you.
