An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Oppose Unauthorized Military Action Against Iran

6 so far! Help us get to 10 signers!

I am writing to urge you to exercise your constitutional authority to prevent unauthorized military strikes against Iran. The current trajectory toward military escalation represents a dangerous path that threatens American servicemembers, destabilizes the region, and contradicts the will of your constituents. Congress holds the sole constitutional power to authorize military action. Any deployment of U.S. forces to Iran without Congressional approval would violate this fundamental principle of our democracy. I am asking you to stand firmly against any attempt to bypass this constitutional requirement and to publicly oppose unilateral military action. The American people have made clear we do not support another endless war in the Middle East. Our military has been overtaxed by decades of conflict, and our servicemembers deserve leadership that pursues diplomatic solutions rather than reflexive military escalation. The financial cost of these interventions has been staggering, diverting resources from critical domestic needs while weakening our national security posture. Peace is not only morally preferable but strategically and economically sound. Military action against Iran would endanger U.S. troops, kill Iranian civilians, and likely trigger a broader regional conflict with unpredictable consequences. It would strain our relationships with allies and further stretch our military capabilities at a time when we need to rebuild and refocus. I am asking you to take concrete action: publicly oppose any unauthorized military strikes against Iran, demand that the administration seek Congressional approval before any military action, and work with your colleagues to reassert Congress's war powers authority. Your constituents are counting on you to prevent reckless escalation and to choose diplomacy over unnecessary conflict. The Constitution is clear about Congress's role in matters of war. I urge you to fulfill that responsibility and stand against military action that lacks both Congressional authorization and public support.
