An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Investigate potential insider trading over Trump's abrupt tariff reversal

168 so far! Help us get to 250 signers!

The sudden reversal of trade tariffs by the former president, announced with a tweet instead of through formal channels, raises serious concerns about potential insider trading and market manipulation. An immediate and thorough investigation must be launched to determine whether any lawmakers or administration officials had advance knowledge of this policy shift and subsequently profited from it through stock trades. The timing of Trump's tweet urging people to "buy stocks" mere minutes before the tariff reversal is too suspicious to ignore. We cannot allow those entrusted with privileged information to exploit it for personal financial gain, undermining public trust and institutional integrity. Transparency and accountability demand a full inquiry into any suspicious trading activity around this incident. The credibility of our government institutions is at stake. Restoring faith requires getting to the bottom of what transpired and holding any wrongdoers accountable through appropriate legal channels. Turning a blind eye to even the appearance of impropriety erodes democracy itself.
