EMPLOYEE QUALITY ACTUALLY MATTERS. TIME FOR A DC JOB REVIEW.

Not much is more infuriating than to hear politicians use we the people as a foundational excuse to do inexcusable things to we the people. These are all things that have been done or will be done in our names… Cut social safety nets to the bone. Price health insurance out of reach to a large portion of our citizenry. Restrict or obliterate due process under the law. Impede our right to vote in any and every way possible. Cut regulations, including oversight of our food supplies to the point where we now have mass outbreaks of food-related illness as a given. Diminish vaccine requirements to the point where generations raised without debilitating and/or deadly disease, because hello, vaccines, will now perhaps get to experience the personal freedom of polio. Gut public education or install curriculum tailored to a particular ideology. Or religion. Go Christian or go home. The GOP-led government has done all this and much more. While they proclaim they’re doing it all FOR us, not TO us. So you have to get a bit of satisfaction to have them also now being hit upside the head by the result of their actions. Polling that would cost anyone in private business their jobs. A national deficit that is going to choke America. And a president that is showing them every in every way how unnecessary they are to his administration. Ever-growing headlines of Republicans ‘bristling,’ ‘frustrated,’ ‘concerned,’ ‘disturbed,’ blah blah blah that rarely results in productive action to alleviate their worries. Our national debt just hit 40 TRILLION DOLLARS!” Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) wrote on Twitter this week. “This is bad. Congress needs to get spending under control and BALANCE THE BUDGET. Americans deserve better.” Senator Scott voted for Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill, a law that was forecast to raise deficits by $3.4T over the next decade. I guess he forgot. “Congress has appropriated money, and you don’t have the authority to impound it,” Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) chastised the OMB this spring over the withholding of hundreds of millions of dollars the Trump administration is supposed to send quarterly to states. Reminder. GOP leaders have repeatedly bucked Democratic calls for action. Including to reverse the cancellation of specific grants. Or to nullify Trump’s pocket rescission (look it up) last fall. And any other attempts to prevent future end-run around Congress by barring rescissions requests in the last months of the fiscal year. Trump is a master of dodging and circumventing laws. Why would the GOP Congress ever expect he would respect any actual laws they passed? He’s only doing what they’ve always allowed him to do. “When are our Republican colleagues going to assert our legislative authority?” Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) of Florida, a top appropriator, said in an interview. “I mean, why in the hell did they run for Congress?” Sen. Brian Schatz (D-HI) another senior appropriator said in an interview, “I just think there's a bipartisan desire to get back to the way the Constitution is supposed to operate. Where we decide how the money is spent.” Better late than never? But it’s going to be really hard to reclaim the high ground when it was so willingly given away in the first place. Just remember who it was who actually worked against the will and wishes of we the people. And now cries that they can’t do anything about it. But still want us to let them keep the jobs they refuse to do.
