An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Defend Khalil to defend due process and peaceful protest

17 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!

Mahmoud Khalil was imprisoned without due process, accused of abusing the right to peaceful protest. There is not evidence to support this charge; his harsh treatment is part of a chilling strategy by the Trump administration to terrify, silence, and/or remove activists and immigrants from society and from the country. Khalil is a legal immigrant, who protested legally, but that doesn’t make a difference when due process is denied. He has a hearing today. I ask you to be a loud voice supporting him and supporting two of the most basic and important rights everyone living in the United Stated has: the rights to due process and peaceful protest.
