I support the Democrats resisting the budget extension. The Republicans used the reconciliation process to cut ACA subsidies, cut Medicaid, reduce Medicare reimbursement, cut SNAP benefits. They also supported recision of the already passed Budget, which cut more assistance to the middle class and government functions. The Republicans will not negotiate in good faith with Democrats after an extension. They have no intention of refunding health care, especially with no leverage from a shutdown. These are not normal times. The President with Republican support is disassembling the U.S. government, acting to limit free speech, sending the military to cities, suggesting that the military practice lethality on U.S. cities, while tanking the economy with tariffs and reduced available labor, due to illegally conducted deportations. It is time to stop business as usual. The disruption from the shutdown will underscore we are willing to resist the MAGA takeover with all non-violent means at our disposal. People’s lives will be disrupted by the shut down, but not as much as they will be disrupted by the erasure of the U.S. Constitution and the establishment of an authoritarian, immoral kleptocracy run by an unrestrained autocrat. Please do not aid them. Do not vote for the budget extension. Be a leader of the resistance.
