An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Vote Yes on the Kaine War Powers Resolution to End the Iran Conflict

1,025 so far! Help us get to 2,000 signers!

Today I’m writing to urge you to vote YES on Sen. Tim Kaine's war powers resolution and direct President Trump to end U.S. military hostilities against Iran. This conflict has dragged on for more than 80 days with no declaration of war, no AUMF, and no legal authority — and Congress has been kept entirely in the dark on Operation Epic Fury. That is not how a constitutional democracy wages war. Even Sen. Bill Cassidy, a Republican who previously voted against similar measures, flipped his vote because his own constituents — including Trump supporters — are demanding accountability. If that's happening in Louisiana, a deep red state, it's happening everywhere. The White House's claim that ceasefire days don't count toward the 60-day War Powers Act window is a legal fiction designed to circumvent Congress, not a serious argument. Your vote on this resolution is a vote on whether Congress still has a role in decisions of war and peace. Vote yes. Thank you.
