An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Suspend Habeas Corpus—and Say Goodbye to Democracy

13 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!

Stephen Miller just said the Trump administration is “actively looking at” suspending habeas corpus—the right that protects EVERYONE from being detained without charges, without a trial, and without even seeing a judge. This is not policy. This is tyranny in the making. And if you think this will only be used on immigrants, protesters, or so-called “enemies”—THINK AGAIN. If it can happen to THEM, it can happen to ALL OF US. Political opponents. Journalists. Teachers. Anyone who speaks out. We already know this administration has packed the judiciary with loyalists and only obeys the courts when it suits them. Removing habeas corpus would give them full control—no oversight, no consequences, no limits. Without it, the government can lock people up INDEFINITELY with NO accountability. No trial. No defense. No justice. Just POWER, unchecked. This is how democracies die—one exception, one excuse, one silence at a time. I’m asking you—DEMANDING YOU—to take a stand RIGHT NOW. Speak out. Pass legislation if needed. BLOCK this administration from erasing our most basic legal protections. If Congress doesn’t stop this, you’re not just failing to protect the Constitution—you’re helping DESTROY it. ACT NOW. Or we lose far more than an election—we lose the REPUBLIC.
