The murder of paramedic Hamdan Abu Annaba while in Israel custody is an outrageous violation of human rights and international law. This disturbing incident underscores the urgent need to hold Israel accountable for its egregious abuses against medical personnel working to save lives. Israel's indiscriminate violence and lack of accountability for the massacres of civilians, including healthcare workers, is unconscionable and cannot be tolerated. This is yet another alarming example of Israel's disregard for the Geneva Conventions' protections for medical staff during armed conflicts. I hereby call for an immediate and comprehensive independent investigation into Abu Annaba's death, as well as the cases of other medics reportedly detained and tortured by Israel forces while carrying out their duties. Furthermore, these reprehensible actions necessitate a complete arms embargo on Israel until it adheres to international humanitarian law and ends its oppression of the Palestinian people. Israel must face consequences for its escalating atrocities, including this appalling murder of a paramedic imprisoned with no trials or evidence of guilt under a practice known as “administrative detention”. Allowing such grave transgressions to continue unchecked enables further deterioration of human rights and erosion of the rules-based international order. Decisive action through an arms embargo on Israel will help prevent massacres of innocent lives at the expense of American taxpayers.
