Remember when Russia invaded Ukraine, and my Texas Republican Senator Cornyn wrote:
“We have a responsibility to support the Ukrainian people as they fight to defend their own sovereignty. Putin has tried to get away with as much as he can, and it would be naive to think that he will stop at Ukraine. Ukraine is on the front line of a crisis, but the security of Europe is also in question. This is not just about Ukraine. This is not just about Europe. This is about America’s credibility and that of our friends and allies around the world and our willingness to stand up for our values and defend our freedoms.”
Then in 2023, he issued a statement on the first anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, emphasizing that a "victory in Ukraine is a victory for all who value freedom.”
Today president Zelensky and all the major European leaders are set to meet with the president at the WH.
I think Trump is about to get a talking to.
So far, after the fiasco called a summit to end the war in Ukraine, crickets from the party that used to believe America had a role to play in bringing democracy to the rest of the world.
Today this constituent is wondering if my Texas senators will continue to kowtow so that they can hold onto power. And avoid a primary challenge.
I’d like to know if you still believe in the democratic principles Ukraine is fighting for? Because it’s not apparent you still believe fully in democracy even in America.
