As a parent of children with disabilities, I am deeply concerned about proposals to move IDEA oversight and the Office of Special Education Programs (OSE IDEA within the Department of Education. Thank you for your service. P) away from the U.S. Department of Education. IDEA is an education law designed to ensure students receive a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) in the least restrictive environment. Educational decisions should remain under the leadership of education professionals who understand schools, learning, and student access.
