An open letter to State Governors & Legislatures (Texas only)
Texas is violating every public student’s constitutional rights

I am writing to strongly object to the newly passed state bill mandating that every public school classroom display the Christian Ten Commandments. This bill is not only wrong—it is blatantly unconstitutional.
The First Amendment to the United States Constitution explicitly guarantees freedom of religion. It protects all people, of all faiths and no faith, from government-imposed religion. By forcing public schools to display a Christian religious text, the State of Texas is violating the constitutional rights of students, teachers, school employees, and visiting families.
Public schools are government institutions. They must remain neutral in matters of religion, neither promoting nor denigrating any faith. This bill is not neutrality—it is government endorsement of one specific religious tradition. Such actions directly contradict long-standing Supreme Court rulings and undermine the very foundation of religious liberty in America.
Our classrooms must be places of learning, not places of religious coercion. Every child, regardless of their religious background, deserves to feel welcome, respected, and free from state-imposed religious messages. Mandating Christian religious displays is divisive, discriminatory, and unconstitutional.
I urge you to immediately reconsider and repeal this measure. Texas should lead by example in upholding the Constitution—not defying it. Protect the First Amendment. Protect religious freedom for all Texans.
