Defund ICE & Legislate to Protect Civil Rights

ICE officers are deliberately terrorizing communities. They are violating the Constitution. I am horrified and you should be too. Please reduce ICE funding in any budget legislation down to levels seen in prior years; not the outrageous sums granted in HR1. Please Legislate! It would take a two word amendment to 42 USC para.1983 to subject ICE agents and other federal law enforcement officers to the same liability for violations of the constitution that local and state officers now face. Congress must pass a statute that explicitly creates a cause of action against federal officials, essentially a “Federal Section 1983.” Since all federal officers are bound to adhere the US Constitution adding the words Federal Officers to that law is not a drastic or complex change. Please make this change immediately. I look forward to reading your written response.
