Hello - I am contacting you to bring the Office of Personnel Management's proposal 2025-0004-0001 to your attention. The American federal government depends on a professional, nonpartisan workforce capable of building systemic knowledge based on decades of experience. The Trump administration has resulted in record numbers of protest resignations and mass firings without cause. These firings have been reversed or blunted in court, but both serve to cripple both the capabilities of all agencies and the public trust. OPM-2025-0004 aims to convert all contract employees to at-will, with the goal of firing anyone who 'injects politics into their work'. Under any other administration this could be taken at face value. This one, however, has repeatedly proven that they mean quite the opposite - and will use any means to empty the force of those who do not toe the party line to make room for cronies and loyalists. They are merely trying to put the rule of law behind what they could not accomplish in defiance of it. Worst, per Executive Order 14215, Trump has started that he has direct control over all federal agencies, including the Federal Election Commission. If this proposal passes not only will it be a death knell to a neutral and professional workforce, without oversight or legislative approval, but it will serve to undermine the very foundations of our democratic society. I urge you to loudly and publicly oppose this proposal. Use your visibility and every resource at your disposal to rally the public against OPM-2025-004.
