Oppose S.2216 – No More Weapons for Israel’s Genocide

I am writing to demand that you oppose S.2216, the so-called “U.S.-Israel Anti-Tunnel Cooperation Act,” introduced by Senators Jacky Rosen and Katie Britt. This bill is a blatant attempt to funnel more U.S. weapons and funding to Israel under the false pretense of “defense”—at a time when Israel is waging a genocidal war against Palestinians in Gaza with full U.S. complicity. Let’s be absolutely clear: what Israel has been doing for the past 21 months is not self-defense. It is systematic ethnic cleansing. Since October 2023, over 58,000 Palestinians have been killed, tens of thousands of them children. According to the United Nations and reputable human rights groups—including Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, and B’Tselem—Israel is committing war crimes by deliberately targeting civilians, using starvation as a weapon of war, bombing hospitals, schools, and aid convoys, and forcibly displacing nearly the entire population of Gaza. No amount of congressional press releases or public relations spin will obscure these facts. The pretense that S.2216 is about “counter-tunnel technology” is a smokescreen. The bill explicitly enhances the “War Reserves Stockpile Allies-Israel,” which already allows the U.S. to store weapons on Israeli soil for Israeli use. Let me remind you: the last time this stockpile was tapped, Israel used it to kill civilians in Gaza. More weapons in that stockpile means more Palestinian blood on American hands. If you support this bill, you are not supporting peace or security—you are enabling war crimes. Worse, you are going against the will of the American people. A “Data for Progress” poll earlier this year found that 68% of Americans—including a majority of both Democrats and independents—oppose sending more weapons to Israel. Your constituents are watching, and we will not forget how our representatives respond to this genocide. We will not be made complicit. We will not let our tax dollars be used to fuel apartheid and ethnic cleansing. And we will vote accordingly. If you choose to support S.2216 or any legislation that deepens U.S. military complicity in Israel’s atrocities, you are choosing to lose the trust and support of your voters.
