The pain of war is something that words can hardly capture—the horror of watching your home reduced to dust, the deafening roar of bombs, and the unbearable grief of losing loved ones. For refugees, it’s not just physical displacement; it’s the erasure of identity, culture, and history as they are forced to flee with nothing but fragments of what was once home. Entire generations grow up knowing nothing but violence, deprived of peace and dignity.
Meanwhile, our politicians, stripped of their humanity, stand by, offering empty rhetoric while continuing to pour billions of our taxpayer dollars into the hands of occupying forces. We have undeniable evidence of the crimes committed by Israel, seen through the lenses of Palestinians, Lebanese, and Iranians who bear witness to the atrocities. Yet, instead of standing for justice, our leaders enable the oppression by funding these forces.
American taxpayers also suffer, as billions are funneled to support occupations abroad while critical issues at home remain unresolved. In Flint, Michigan, people still drink poisoned water, healthcare is a distant dream for many, and homelessness increases, but there is always a blank check for war. We fund destruction overseas while our own infrastructure crumbles and communities fall apart.
It’s time to demand more than words. We need an immediate ceasefire and a total arms embargo. No more funding for occupation and violence. It’s time we stand for humanity, at home and abroad, and focus on building a world where civilians are protected from war, class division, and fascism. These are the steps toward true peace and justice—not hollow statements, but real, actionable change.
