Protect public lands from privatization for short-term profits

I urge you to oppose the Senate Energy & Natural Resources Committee's budget reconciliation bill that threatens the sell-off of over 250 million acres of public lands across 11 Western states. These cherished public lands, including local recreation areas, wilderness study areas, inventoried roadless areas, critical wildlife habitats, and big game migration corridors, belong to all Americans and must be protected for current and future generations. The arbitrary mandate to sell at least 2 million acres over just 5 years, with limited public input and potential giveaways to commercial interests, undermines responsible land management priorities. Our public lands provide invaluable outdoor recreation opportunities, preserve our natural heritage, and sustain local economies and communities. Disposing of these lands for short-term financial gains would represent a profound betrayal of the public trust. Instead of enabling the largest sell-off of national public lands in modern history, we should strengthen protections for these irreplaceable natural treasures. These lands are meant to be managed for the benefit of all people, not auctioned off to the highest bidder. I implore you to stand firm against any attempt to privatize America's public lands for the enrichment of privileged interests at the expense of your constituents and our shared natural legacy.
