Demand moral leadership and national unity during tragedies

The tragic plane crash over the Potomac River exposed Donald Trump's rancid and irredeemable character once again. Instead of providing leadership, empathy, and consolation during this national tragedy, he deflected blame, spewed offensive rhetoric, and exploited the situation for self-aggrandizement. This callous disregard for human suffering and lack of basic decency appalled. I realize that my representative, Lauren Boebert, is too intellectually challenged to understand the hot mess that she has supported, but I do expect my senators to be the adults in the room and stop this madman. Trump's spontaneous impulse to cast aspersions on marginalized communities, disabled individuals, and his political opponents revealed a deeply disturbing moral bankruptcy. Grieving families deserved far better than a president who shamelessly politicized their pain to serve his own ego and divisive agenda. Such indecent and unethical conduct from the highest office eroded the principles of human dignity and compassion that should guide any democratic society. Immediate and principled action must rein in this dangerous demagoguery and restore a sense of national unity, empathy, and moral leadership during this difficult time. The American people deserve far better.
