DON'T extend Section 702 of FISA without significant reasonable and logical reforms. Stop potential unethical surveillance and abuse of power aimed at US citizens. I've read in the news that hundreds of civil liberties groups have expressed great concerns in a March 19th letter to Congress that, 'Section 702 has been repeatedly abused in the past, with the FBI using its loopholes to access the communications of peaceful protesters, federal and state lawmakers, Congressional staff, thousands of campaign donors, journalists, and a judge reporting civil rights violations by local police.' Reasonable and logical reforms are needed with Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (allowing the U.S. government to continue collecting communications of foreigners, even when they interact with U.S. citizens). Privacy and surveillance practices need to be addressed and clearly defined in writing. If Section 702 is allowed to remain as is, there should be great concern over privacy violations and the potential for abuse, as it enables the government to incidentally collect communications of Americans without proper oversight. Oppose a clean reauthorization of Section 702 of FISA. Currently, Section 702 numerous loopholes allow for unwarranted government surveillance and can be easily manipulated at the expense of Americans’ civil liberties. Reasonable and logical reforms are needed to Section 702, such as the addition of warrant requirements. DON'T extend Section 702 of FISA without significant reasonable and logical reforms.
