Accessory After the Fact

I suspect you won't read this, and if you do, you'll dismiss it out of hand. If you even bother to reply, it'll likely be meaningless form letter. However, I'm compelled to write you, anyway. So, here's my question: if I witnessed my neighbor murder his wife, but I stayed silent because I didn't like her, am I guilty of the crime of being an accessory after the fact? I am, right? Its a crime not to speak up if you witness a crime. That brings me to the matter at hand. As a veteran, I was taught that it's also a crime to remain silent if you witness a military crime - a war crime? Even if you can somehow accept the justification for destroying these boats - because we are at war with Venezuelan "Narco-terrorists" that means that individuals who are Hors de Combat are not legal targets. Killing them is a war crime. If you can't accept the justification that we are at war with these "narco-terrorist," which we aren't, then this action is simple murder. Why are you remaining silent about this? I know you feel that you can't speak out against Trump, Hegseth, Bradley, and the US Navy (Semper Fortis!), but you can. In fact, it's your moral obligation as a national leader. To not speak out makes you an accessory after the fact. You are quickly becoming guilty of criminal actions (or inactions). Yes, I realize you may never be held accountable, but you know. Your kids know. Your grandkids know. Your state knows. Your nation knows. YOUR GOD KNOWS. At some point in the future, the real history of this era will be written. What will be written about you?
