An open letter to the U.S. Senate

Vote NO on S. 1111

2 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

Today I take pen in hand to write and urge you to vote NO and reject S. 1111, a bill that would advance the nuclear power agenda at the expense of safety. Yes, we need clean energy, but it’s been shown time and time again that nuclear power takes a long time to build, is expensive, and lays the burden on taxpayers for cost overruns and delays that always happen. Newer technologies are not ready, and seem to be just as expensive and slow. You well know what this bill would do: Protect the financial interests of the nuclear industry at the expense of safety. To quote the Union of Concerned Scientists: "A compromised NRC could lead to a catastrophic reactor meltdown impacting an entire region for a generation." Safety in any industry ought to be the number one job of government oversight. Industry will NOT police themselves. Vote No on S. 1111. Thank you.
