I'm writing to you today as a constituent who has or may eventually benefit from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Since beginning its work in 2011, the CFPB has handled more than 7.7 million complaints and returned 20 billion to consumers, all with just a fraction of the federal budget.
Even the Supreme Court voted 7-2 to keep this department, acknowledging how much it benefited the American Public. What could possibly be the purpose in dismantling this group, other than taking away yet another consumer protection and giving private, for-profit companies more freedom to rip off the American Public.
Stop giving private corporations more rights than your constituents. Stand up for our needs as our representative. Bring back the CFPB.
