An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Stop executive overreach now

16 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!

I am concerned about the President's decision to deploy additional U.S. forces to the Middle East without seeking Congressional approval as required by the War Powers Resolution. This unilateral action undermines the constitutionally-mandated system of checks and balances and sets a dangerous precedent of expanding executive power at the expense of Congress' oversight role. Unless Congress asserts its authority, the President may feel emboldened to take further military actions without proper consultation and consent from our elected representatives. I urge you to take immediate steps to reassert Congress' constitutional war powers responsibilities and rein in executive overreach that threatens the delicate balance of our democratic system.
