Uphold humanitarian protections and due process for asylum seekers

The Trump administration's decision to terminate humanitarian parole for migrants who entered the U.S. through the CBP One app is deeply concerning. Many of these individuals followed proper legal procedures and waited months for an appointment, only to now face potential deportation and loss of work authorization. Revoking their temporary protections undercuts America's commitment to providing refuge for those fleeing harm and violates the principles of due process. Terminating parole en masse for this population risks separating families, disrupting lives, and violating our nation's moral and legal obligations to protect asylum seekers. Many of these migrants have pending court cases or applications for other protections that should be adjudicated fairly. Deporting them prematurely would be an injustice and a betrayal of the ideals America stands for as a nation of immigrants. The administration should immediately rescind these termination notices and uphold its responsibility to evaluate each case individually through proper legal channels. Arbitrarily deporting migrants who followed the rules and are pursuing lawful pathways is an unacceptable policy that goes against American values of human rights and human dignity. Our immigration system must operate with fairness, humanity, and adherence to our laws and international commitments regarding the treatment of refugees and asylum seekers.
