Musk and his DOGE boys are spouting off about $55 billion in savings that they have accomplished in the past month, and as a member of the DOGE group in the Senate which you touted in a response to a prior communication, I thought that you and your colleagues would push back at that number since independent sources have debunked that figure as wildly inflated with the real number is closer to $6.5 billion, but instead I heard Sen. Markwayne Mullins on Sunday parroting the $55 billion. I think we would all like to see a reduction in federal outlays, but there is a right way (see Bill Clinton and his efforts) and a wrong way (turn on the TV). Beyond misrepresenting the data, wholesale firing of federal employees without any sort of thorough auditing of the departments and their needs will disrupt services for citizens and throw tens of thousands onto the unemployment line which will further deplete social security funding and tax revenue. 30-40% of the “savings” will be lost federal tax revenue and there will be a further decline with the downstream loss of economic activity as the fired employees run out of funds. DOGE should be more accurately referred to as DOGI, department of gross incompetence. I am surprised that you would want to be associated with such an assault on our constitutional structure and have your own power usurped. I don’t think this will age well with your constituents.
