I understand that Congress wants to ban Tiktok because it’s an “urgent threat to national security.” If this is the standard by which we are going to ban technology platforms I just want to make sure that Congress also intends to ban Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter —all of which are known to have been infiltrated by foreign agents who are actively using these platforms to harm our country. These platforms are also havens for white supremacists, whom I believe are currently a most serious terror threat to the US. And you should throw in google and Amazon, who are unabashedly spying on millions of Americans daily. Will Congress be banning all of the above? Because otherwise, this Tiktok ban will do nothing to protect Americans from real threats.
I find it at best a distraction blaming the TikTok CEO for ‘body dissatisfaction, anxiety and depression’ while our country has a mass shooting every other day, economic uncertainty, elected officials taking us back to the Jim Crow era, and nutrient-deficient over-processed "food" flooding our supermarket shelves [in lieu of focusing on providing Americans with affordable, healthier, nutrient-dense food options].
All of this dramatic opposition to TikTok… might it be simply a distraction from the news releases that certain individuals &/or organizations own stock in Meta [and other direct competitors with TikTok]?
