I am writing with a heavy heart and a deep sense of urgency about the devastating budget and staffing cuts to our public lands. These places are not just acres of dirt and trees—they are sacred. They are where families go to find peace, where children learn to love nature, where wildlife still has a home, and where America shows its true beauty.
It is worth remembering that one of our greatest Republican presidents, Theodore Roosevelt, understood this better than anyone. He stood up to powerful industries that wanted to strip our lands bare for profit. He knew that once our rivers are polluted, once our forests are leveled, once our wildlife is gone—we cannot get them back. Roosevelt loved this country enough to fight to preserve it, and he left us a legacy that we are now in danger of losing.
Slashing budgets and gutting staff is nothing less than abandoning that legacy. It means fewer rangers to protect fragile ecosystems. It means neglect of our trails, parks, and historic landmarks. It means more fires, more destruction, more trash, and more loss. It means turning our backs on the very soul of America.
I am begging you—do not let this happen. Stand up and fight for our public lands. Fight for the mountains, the rivers, the forests, the deserts, the wildlife, and the people who love them. Fight for the idea that America’s natural beauty should never be sold off to the highest bidder.
I urge you to reject any budget that cuts funding or staff from our public lands and instead push for increased investment in their protection and stewardship. Please use your voice, your vote, and your leadership to make it clear that America will not abandon its natural heritage.
We cannot let short-sighted cuts destroy what generations have worked so hard to protect. Please be the leader who honors Roosevelt’s vision and defends the lands that make America truly great.
