Support / Vote YES on the Raise the Wage Act of 2025 I’m writing today to urge you to support and co-sponsor the Raise the Wage Act, recently introduced by Rep. Bobby Scott and Sen. Bernie Sanders.
The proposed Raise the Wage Act of 2025 aims to gradually increase the federal minimum wage from $7.25 to $17 by 2030.
The minimum wage hasn’t kept up with the times, and with all the consumer price increases, many are working more than one job just to make ends meet.
This long-overdue increase would provide a much-needed raise for approximately 22 million hardworking Americans who are currently struggling to make ends meet despite being employed full-time. As Representative Scott put it, “no person working full time in America should be living in poverty.”
The bill would:
⁃ Gradually raise the minimum wage from $7.25 to $17.00 by 2030
⁃ Index future increases in the federal minimum wage to median wage growth so it doesn’t fall behind over time.
⁃ Guarantee that tipped workers also get the full minimum wage
⁃ Guarantee that teen workers are also paid the full federal minimum wage.
⁃ End sub-minimum wage certificates for workers with disabilities, so they can be competitively employed.
In short, the bill would help lift millions out of poverty and allowing workers to afford basic necessities. this legislation would greatly improve the standard of living for a substantial portion of the workforce.
Endorsed by over 85 organizations from Advocacy for Kids to Unions, as well as workplace safety groups, the bill has 142 original House sponsors
Furthermore, putting more money into the pockets of workers would stimulate the economy as they spend that income at local businesses in their communities. In light of the potential positive impacts on both workers and economic growth,
I urge you to support the Raise the Wage Act and help ensure a living wage for all Americans. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
