Please support Senate Bill 9 to protect Delaware's non-tidal wetlands
8 so far! Help us get to 10 signers!
I am writing as your constituent to ask for your support of Senate Bill 9, which would extend Delaware's wetland protections to the non-tidal wetlands that the 2023 Supreme Court decision in Sackett v. EPA left without federal oversight.
These wetlands matter to all of us. They filter the water that runs through our farms and neighborhoods. They absorb flood water before it reaches our homes and roads. They shelter species — the Bethany Beach firefly, the dwarf wedgemussel, the bog turtle, the eastern tiger salamander, and dozens of others — that live in few other places on Earth.
According to DNREC, up to 25% of Delaware’s non-tidal wetlands currently have no regulatory protection at all. Senate Bill 9 would close that gap.
I urge you to vote yes on SB 9 and to protect what's left of Delaware's freshwater wetlands while we still can.
Thank you for your service to our state.
