Protect immigrants and protestors

As a deeply concerned and actively engaged constituent, as well as a longtime member of Amnesty International and Amnesty USA, I urge you to do all you can to stop and reverse Trump’s escalating use of ICE, police, and military forces to repress peaceful protest and target immigrants. Across the country, peaceful protesters are being met with violent force by military and law enforcement. Masked federal agents have stormed neighborhoods using tear gas, rubber bullets, and mass arrests. This is not about protecting public safety — it’s about instilling fear and silencing dissent. The Trump administration is showing us that it will use any tool of the state, including ICE and even military forces, to target immigrants, asylum-seekers, protesters, and anyone who dares to defend their rights. It’s a chilling preview of what’s to come. We need to protect peaceful protest, not criminalize it. And we need to reject a world where military force being used to repress people speaking out for human rights and protecting their neighbors becomes the new normal.
