Greetings. I am a voting constituent in rural west Texas.
Looking forward to a new year. Hopefully one that is brighter than this one has been. We all need something to look forward to.
Looks like we won’t be looking forward to a $2000 stimulus payment for our citizenry. Politics are so ugly. And politics never stop, even in the face of dire need.
We won’t be looking forward to the Senate delaying acceptance of the Electoral College results declaring Joe Biden president. It’s bad enough that obstacle after obstacle has been thrown in the path of the transition from Trump to Biden. But now one of your Senate colleagues has decided to embrace the election fraud conspiracy to raise objection. See the above politics observation.
I just wonder, as do we all, if there is so much evidence of voter/election fraud, where it might be? The courts haven’t seen it. The public hasn’t seen it. Have you seen it? There are few secrets that can actually be kept for so long, but this must be one of them. It’s the conspiracy theorist’s unicorn. The great white whale of the GOP.
Governing by conspiracy theory does not bode well for America. No matter the language it’s cloaked in.
What did I hear the other day...something to the effect that you shouldn’t expect great Machiavellian conspiracies from your government but you can always expect great incompetence.
Sad.
But we are definitely looking forward to a few bright spots. A vaccine that will hopefully make it into all our arms. And the sight of Donald Trump’s backside as he exits the building.
And that, my friends, will not be sad.
