I am writing to voice my support for NATIONAL PUBLIC Radio & PUBLIC Broadcasting Service. NPR & PBS are critical independent journalism & news outlets that are not beholden to whims of multinational corporations and billionaire stakeholders. IF you vote to rescind ONE FEDERAL dollar from these organizations you can be sure that I will NEVER vote for you again. My suggestion is to INCREASE funding for independent journalism outlets, especially in these times when it seems a couple Billionaires are controlling every major media outlet.
It is APALLING and DISTURBING that the President of the United States is attacking these critical institutions. I grew up with Sesame Street & Mr. Rogers and the balanced, steady reporting from PBS News Hour, which always brings interesting reports about news here in the US and from all over the globe.
Just to be clear: the attacks against independent journalism in this country ARE UNAMERICAN - supported WHOLEHEARTEDLY by Vladimir Putin & other fascist dictators who want to destroy our country. Siding with fascist dictators is something we should NEVER be doing in this country and we NEED TO STICK TOGETHER and STOP the divisive garbage.
This is SERIOUS BUSINESS - the free exchange of ideas and open dialogue is one of the PILLARS of our DEMOCRACY and MUST BE PROTECTED at all costs.
ANYONE WHO WANTS TO CONTROL what the media is saying, or push our journalists and independent news outlets to say one thing or not another thing are COWARDS who are afraid to get their feelings hurt. BE ADULTS - HAVE CONVERSATIONS WITH EACHOTHER.
As you can tell I do NOT appreciate having to write my members of congress to tell them to uphold AMERICAN values. A reply is requested stating clearly your position on funding for these organizations. Thank you
