An open letter to the U.S. Senate

Oppose Stephen Miran’s Nomination to the Federal Reserve Board

2 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

I’m writing to urge you to oppose the nomination of Stephen Miran to the Federal Reserve Board. Mr. Miran’s continued role as Chair of the White House Council of Economic Advisors while serving on the Fed raises serious concerns about the central bank’s independence. The Federal Reserve must remain free from political influence to fulfill its dual mandate of stable prices and maximum employment. Miran’s refusal to resign from his White House post—even temporarily—undermines public trust and threatens the integrity of monetary policy decisions. This nomination comes amid unprecedented pressure from President Trump to manipulate interest rates and remove sitting governors. Miran’s past criticisms of the Fed’s pandemic response and his alignment with partisan economic agendas make him an unsuitable candidate for a role that demands impartiality and long-term stewardship. I urge you to protect the independence of our financial institutions and vote no on Miran’s confirmation. Thank you for your time and consideration.
