Trump’s declaration via a post on his social media outlet that he wants regime change in Iran is appalling. This cannot be allowed, and YOU must do all in your considerable power as a member of Congress to stop it in its tracks.
Yes, the current ruling regime in Iran is brutal and repressive. But it is not up to the United States to change that. We are only recently out of a 20-year disaster in the Middle East, with American troops fighting and dying for no discernible benefit. We may have changed the regime in Iraq, but at what cost and to what end? Exactly what did we accomplish in Afghanistan?
And now Trump is saying he wants to try it again in Iran. This is insane. How many more lives and years does he want this country to spend for his delusions? How much more money are we expected to sink into another lost war in a region we still refuse to understand? And for what?
He has already endangered American lives. As I write this, Iran is striking a U.S. base in Qatar. How many lives will this man’s ego cost us?
Your party constantly insists that this country is “broke” and that we do not have enough money to feed the poor, house the homeless, or provide health care to anyone. Your party insists that we don’t have the money for Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare, or veterans’ benefits. Yet somehow we always have plenty of money for bullets and bombs and ill-advised wars.
No. No more war. No regime change. No proxy war for Israel. And certainly not by an administration that isn’t qualified at ANY level to organize and prosecute a war.
It’s time for Congress to step in. You have the power and authority, granted to you by the Constitution. Use it. No war for regime change. No war for Israel. Bring this administration to heel. DO YOUR DAMNED JOB!
