Finally. The president has given his approval to release files that might expose the pedophiles amongst us. Such a difficult decision to make apparently. But better late than never.
The conspiracy-minded might have a couple of scenarios in mind regarding this sudden moral reversal on release of the Epstein files.
One is that the Senate won’t take the measure up for a vote.
Another is that Trump won’t sign it.
Or because he has ordered his pocket-DOJ to investigate prominent Democrats whose names appear in the files, naturally nothing can be released until all that diversion has been completed. Permanent stall tactic.
And lastly, the most nefarious, that shredders have been going in the DOJ 24/7 and have finally completed the job they were instructed to do.
But we’ll remain hopeful for now that Trump has just finally decided to do the right thing.
At least it’s been rightly pointed out that an actual conspiracy was finally uncovered. The conspiracy that the rich and connected live in a realm of shifting morality that belies the norms the rest of us attempt to live by.
Epstein and Maxwell were part of that conspiracy. They got away with reprehensible acts for years, protected by their status. People who have money and power get away with crimes all the time. That’s just a fact. And the Epstein emails now show the world how people are willing to overlook even the worst crime if they think that somehow they’re going to benefit.
The frank, unfiltered, confident-in-their-cocoon-of-privilege emails expose an actual, not just metaphorical, swamp.
Maybe now we can also get to the bottom of the story of the 17-year-old girl the House Ethics Committee found former representative Matt Gaetz likely paid to have sex with him. The girl was a homeless high schooler who needed to supplement the money she made from her job at McDonald’s to be able to pay for braces.
One guy involved pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
The DOJ did not charge Gaetz.
The elite classes always have and always will avoid accountability. But the majority of us still prefer to live in a world where a child does not have to sell her body to older men in order to save enough money to get braces on her teeth.
This type of base depravity should never be condoned or protected or overlooked. And we will never accept being led by anyone who does.
Stop protecting those who don’t deserve it. Start protecting those who do.
