In recent weeks we’ve seen Trump escalate his dividing rhetoric and misuse government power to crush dissent. HUD’s official website now pronounces the “Radical Left” will “shut down the government,” using a red banner that echoes propaganda, and violating the Hatch Act.
State and federal officials have mocked or ridiculed those who dared oppose him. He replaced watchdogs, purged oversight bodies, and dismissed civil servants who resisted. These are not isolated incidents—they are part of a pattern to silence opposition and consolidate power.
Trump’s indictment of former FBI Director James Comey came right after he fired the U.S. attorney who refused to prosecute him. That timing is neither coincidence nor justice, it is weaponization of the justice system.
Meanwhile, he has threatened “irreversible” cuts during the looming shutdown, blaming Democrats for the crisis while shielding himself from accountability.
His attacks echo his years of birther lies and other conspiracies, he has always built support by sowing distrust and division.
Congress must not let this stand. Publicly condemn his rhetoric, name‑calling, hyperbole, and abuses. Hold hearings on executive overreach and retaliation. Pass legislation to protect civil servants and politicians from being punished for speaking truth.
Demand restoration of independent bodies like Inspectors General. Refuse to allow this nation to be torn apart by lies and fear. Stand with all Americans, not a demagogue.
