An open letter to the President & U.S. Congress; State Governors & Legislatures

It's time for more restrictions on media consolidation

18 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!

In 1984, under Reagan, the FCC, overturned the “seven-station” rule, which stated no single media group was permitted to own more than seven television stations (including only five VHF stations); seven FM radio stations and seven AM stations. The policy was then changed to allow media groups to own 12 television stations. In 1990, that limit was eliminated entirely. In 1996, Sinclair and Nexstar began accumulating stations. They are using all those stations to throttle free speech. BRING BACK THE LIMITS!
