This narrative misrepresents the reality of the conflict and undermines the sovereignty and dignity of the Ukrainian people, which many of your constituents strongly support. As you are aware, the unprovoked invasion of Ukraine by Russia in 2022 was condemned by democracies around the world. The people of Ukraine have endured unimaginable suffering while defending their independence and territorial integrity. Our nation has consistently stood with Ukraine, and voters in our community expect leaders like you to uphold these values. Trump’s campaign claim that he could end the war with a single phone call showed his lack of understanding of the complexities of this crisis. While we all hope for a swift resolution to the war, it must be a solution that is fair and equitable to the innocent citizens of Ukraine—not one dictated by aggressors or driven by misinformation. I respectfully encourage you to issue a statement reaffirming your support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and your commitment to a just resolution of this conflict. Your leadership can help dispel false narratives and show solidarity with the brave men, women, and children of Ukraine.
