This gathering is not explained by the Pentagon. In the middle of tense Pacific deployments, in volatile Middle Eastern theaters, on NATO’s razor’s edge in Europe—commanders are being yanked from the field. Virtually the entire upper tier of America’s military leadership will be concentrated in one location. This is not safe and is weakening US ability to respond to crises in real time.
