Don’t let DOGE butcher the social security administration.

When will congress do its duty and put a stop to the madness of DOGE. Cutting Social Security staffing by 50% seems to be a recipe for disaster. As with most of the other actions by DOGE it will probably be another slash first and lie about the consequences. Measure twice and cut once is a more appropriate approach but no measuring is being done. I have spent several hours trying to get an address change for my 97 year old mother’s social security account done. The agency so short staffed that there are no walk in appointments available and the hold times for phone calls are lengthy. My last wait time was stated as 2 hours. Had to hang up. Fortunately the benefits keep getting deposited but I can get no info since the statements no longer come to an accessible address and online account access was lost when my father died a few years ago along with knowledge of the passwords. I can’t imagine a 50% staffing cut will make this any better for citizens who need to interact with the agency. Please your power of congressional oversight to slow down the buzz saw being taken to the federal beaurocracy. Your constituents will be grateful.
