Urgent: Leadership Change Needed at USPS for a Better Future

I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the current state of the United States Postal Service (USPS) under the leadership of Postmaster General Louis DeJoy. The ongoing issues of delayed mail deliveries and escalating costs have significantly impacted Americans, highlighting an urgent need for change at the USPS.
Since 2020, under Mr. DeJoy's tenure, the USPS has experienced five rate increases, contributing to a growing financial strain on everyday Americans. This, coupled with the USPS's report of a $6.5 billion net loss for the fiscal year ending September 30, illustrates a dire financial trajectory that cannot continue unchecked. The decline in first-class mail volume to its lowest since 1968, despite the increases in stamp prices, underscores the inefficiency and mismanagement plaguing our postal system.
The call for action from over 80 members of the U.S. House of Representatives, including prominent figures overseeing the Postal Service, reinforces the critical need for leadership that prioritizes the needs of the American people over continuous cost-cutting measures. The Postal Service's mission to provide a universal mail service that is accessible and affordable to all Americans is at stake.
In light of these challenges, I urge you to nominate two candidates to the open seats on the U.S. Postal Board of Governors who are committed to reversing these troubling trends. It is essential that these new appointees advocate for strategies that enhance the USPS's service quality and financial health, rather than perpetuating a cycle of decline. Your decisive action in this matter can pave the way for the restoration of the USPS as a cherished American institution that efficiently serves the needs of its citizens.
Thank you for considering my views on this matter. I am hopeful for your swift action to nominate individuals who will lead the USPS towards a brighter, more sustainable future.
