End the shortage of low income housing

In the richest nation on the planet, the fact that we have more than half a million people who are unhoused on any given night is appalling. We are better than that. And, if we are not, then we damn well should be.
There are a plethora of reasons why someone becomes unhoused. But, when you have a job and still cannot put a roof over your own head or your family’s, there a primary reason for that—a lack of affordable housing.
Our city mayors are best placed to recognize and address the issue of affordable housing in our communities. But, they need the resources—financial and otherwise—to address the problem in a meaningful way. Also, while there are federal funds available, those funds should not have to
