End the Monroe Doctrine

Please cosponsor and/or support Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez’s resolution to annul the Monroe Doctrine and put in its place a "Good Neighbor" policy toward Latin America and the Caribbean. President Trump has cited the Monroe Doctrine as his basis for creating and continuing illegal and harmful interventions throughout the region, including the war-like killings in the Caribbean and Pacific; the military intervention in Venezuela *without Congressional approval* to “run” that sovereign country and seize its oil; with additional threats of strikes on other sovereign countries. Rep. Velázquez’s bill sheds light on the history, not only to push back on this Regime, but importantly, to chart a new, positive path forward for US-Latin American relations based on peace and mutual respect. Last night’s Super Bowl gave us a hint of what such peace and mutual respect can do.
