Urgent: Support Senator Sanders’ Resolutions to Block Arms Sales to Israel

I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the recent proposal to sell $8.56 billion in offensive U.S. weaponry to Israel. Senator Bernie Sanders has introduced four Joint Resolutions of Disapproval (JRDs) to block these sales, and I strongly urge you to support these resolutions.
The proposed arms package includes:
• 10,000 M107 and/or M795 155mm High Explosive artillery shells ($312.5 million)
• 2,166 GBU–39/B Small Diameter Bombs (SDBs); 2,800 MK 82 General Purpose 500-pound bombs; 17,479 Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) Guidance Kits; and 17,475 FMU–152 A/B bomb fuzes ($6.75 billion)
• 3,000 AGM–114 Hellfire Air-to-Ground Missiles ($660 million)
• 15,500 JDAM tail kits and 615 SDBs ($688 million)
These weapons are used in Israel’s ongoing assault on all of the Occupied Palestinian Territories, resulting in significant civilian casualties and raising serious concerns about human rights violations. Continuing to supply such arms not only implicates the United States in these actions but also undermines our commitment to international law and human rights.
Moreover, the export of these weapons violates U.S. laws, including the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961 and the Arms Export Control Act (AECA), which prohibit military assistance to countries engaging in consistent human rights abuses. By blocking these sales, Congress can uphold these laws and take a stand against further escalation of violence.
It is imperative that the United States reassess its role in perpetuating conflicts and take meaningful steps toward promoting peace and justice. Supporting Senator Sanders’ Joint Resolutions of Disapproval is a critical step in this direction.
Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter. I look forward to your positive action in supporting these resolutions.
